Sorry, Iranian Twilight fans! Sounds like those Breaking Dawn Barbies are gonna be off-limits!

Yesterday, shopkeepers in Tehran, Iran announced that “morality police” have been amping up efforts against sales of Barbie dolls in the county.

Here’s what a toy shop owner in norther Tehran had to say about it:

“About three weeks ago they (the morality police) came to our shop, asking us to remove all the Barbies.”

More from another toy shop manager in Tehran:

“We still sell Barbies but secretly and place these in the window to make the police reckon we are just selling these kinds of dolls.”

The dolls he’s referring to are Sara and Dara. The female doll is dressed in accordance with Iran’s rule that all women must cover their hair and wear loose-fitting clothes. As for the male doll – he wears a variety of “traditional dress.”

We hope that these morality police will have a change of heart…but we doubt it will happen.

Our thoughts go out to the Iranian children who may be missing out on some of the greatest dolls of all time!

Such a bummer.
