Little Mix Break The Curse, Become First Group To Win X Factor UK!

0

Though Misha B. was our favorite on X Factor UK this season, like Cher Lloyd before – people judged her on personality and not just talent alone. Which is a shame!

We don’t care for the back tale or behind-the-scenes drama, we just care about ability. And Misha B. had so much of it! Talent! Freshness! Stage presence!

Sometimes, though, those that don’t win talent shows like X Factor end up becoming the real winners! Thus far, Cher Lloyd has had more success post X Factor than last season’s winner, Matt Cardle.

BUT…..

We’re very pleased Small Mix won. After Misha B., they were our favorite in the competition!

They could really SING! And they have so much potential after the show to really be competitive and relevant, especially because the U.K. LIKES them some girl groups and boy bands, which we like.

Their win was hard-fought and well-deserved!

Check out two fantastic performances by Small Mix on the X Factor finale (above)!

Aussies Are About To Become Targets For New Swearing Fines

Victoria Fines Swearers

Ridiculous!

Australia’s second most populated state Victoria is about to have a new piece of legislation which police can use their own discretion to fine people for excessive use of swear words or offensive phrases, using the mark of “obnoxious amounts.” Offenders can be fined up to $ 240 bucks.

But who is really to say what the threshold for “obnoxious” is when it comes down to personal opinion and preference??

While we can know how some people could get upset by swear-word usage, we don’t reckon fining people for using words is the smartest thing. When it comes to swear words, words are words. They’re used for emphasis, and we can’t really know the thought-process behind trying to quantify an unquantifiable, opinion-based scale for offensiveness.

We reckon that as long as it doesn’t spill over into despise-speech (which we wouldn’t really categorize as swearing), obnoxious is just obnoxious and people should ignore it and go on. Even so, people should have the inherent right to a freedom of speech, even when it comes to throwing around the ol’ F-bomb.

So what are the guidelines and limits? What’s excessive? Will cops have to count how many times someone says the word “shit” and when they hit the 7th time they get a citation? Who decides this?

Doesn’t make a lot of sense to us.

Does it make sense to U??
