“The Great Gatsby” Brings Star-Studded Premiere to Cannes
0Kicking off the 66th Cannes Film Festival, “The Fantastic Gatsby” held its huge premiere as part of the Opening Ceremony today (May 15).
Leonardo DiCaprio showed up at the Theatre Lumiere with his costars Carey Mulligan, Tobey Maguire, and Isla Fisher and posed for the paparazzi prior to the screening.
Other celebrity guests included Nicole Kidman, Freida Pinto, Julianne Moore, Lana Del Rey, and Cara Delevingne, who all hobnobbed with fellow attendees in their designer duds.
In a recent interview, DiCaprio discussed what drew him to the flick- “I remember picking up the novel as a youth and being entertained by it, fascinated with Gatsby but not by any stretch of the imagination grasping the profound sort of existential power that Fitzgerald has in writing this book.”
“Ultimately I was fascinated by Gatsby as a character. I was went by him. It no longer became a like tale to me. It became a tragedy of this new American, this man in a new world where everything is possible, and at a time of fantastic opulence in the 1920s. He was trying to become a fantastic Rockefeller, a fantastic American, and somewhere along the way has lost a sense of who he was.”

It was a huge night in France as the Cannes Film Festival kicked off with the opening ceremony and the premiere of The Fantastic Gatsby! Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, Isla Fisher, and Tobey Maguire all hit the red carpet after dressing up for a photocall to promote their film, which is at the festival out of competition, earlier today. Cindy Crawford also showed her support in a white Roberto Cavalli gown while Julianne Moore, Freida Pinto, and juror Nicole Kidman also walked the red carpet.

Halle Berry teamed up with Modern Family star Julie Bowen to kick off the 20th annual EIF Revlon Run/Walk for Women in LA today. The event raises money for research, treatment, and support of medically underserved women with cancer. She has been a supporter of the beauty brand and its various charities since 1996, when she first signed on as a beauty ambassador. Halle dropped by the charity walk while on a break from filming her upcoming movie, X-Men: Days of Future Past, alongside Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Lawrence. Aside from working, Halle has been keeping active during her second pregnancy and was even spotted wearing gym clothes yesterday leading up to the Revlon event. She isn’t the only star who is supporting Revlon’s race – Emma Stone and Olivia Wilde hosted the Revlon Run/Walk in NYC last weekend.

Kate Middleton covered her baby bump in a mint green Mulberry coat to attend the National Review of Queen’s Scouts at Windsor Castle today. Kate greeted hundreds of scouts being awarded special honors. She is a trained scout volunteer and an official patron of the organization. Kate had huge shoes to fill during the celebrations as she stood in for the Queen herself, who is privately celebrating her 87th birthday today.
Kate’s pregnancy has not slowed her down, which she recently proved by adopting three new charities. The new causes, Place2Be, SportsAid, and The Natural History Museum, are in addition to her list of five others that she added last year. She will also take on a new title as a godmother in June as she is set to christen the ship, Royal Princess, which is the newest vessel to the Princess Cruise line.

“Spring Breakers” Cast Brings the Party to Los Angeles
0Bringing their highly-anticipated flick to Los Angeles, the cast of “Spring Breakers” was on hand at the Hollywood premiere on Thursday evening (March 14).
