Iran Vs. Barbie Dolls

0

Sorry, Iranian Twilight fans! Sounds like those Breaking Dawn Barbies are gonna be off-limits!

Yesterday, shopkeepers in Tehran, Iran announced that “morality police” have been amping up efforts against sales of Barbie dolls in the county.

Here’s what a toy shop owner in norther Tehran had to say about it:

“About three weeks ago they (the morality police) came to our shop, asking us to remove all the Barbies.”

More from another toy shop manager in Tehran:

“We still sell Barbies but secretly and place these in the window to make the police reckon we are just selling these kinds of dolls.”

The dolls he’s referring to are Sara and Dara. The female doll is dressed in accordance with Iran’s rule that all women must cover their hair and wear loose-fitting clothes. As for the male doll – he wears a variety of “traditional dress.”

We hope that these morality police will have a change of heart…but we doubt it will happen.

Our thoughts go out to the Iranian children who may be missing out on some of the greatest dolls of all time!

Such a bummer.

It hasn’t been officially verified yet, but there has been a recent leak of a new GoDaddy commercial that features the new Pussycat Dolls, and it looks like she’s really in it!

The commercial set to air during the superbowl.

We’re sure we’ll get confirmation soon!

MTV Talks to Robert Tonner About New Jasper and Alice Dolls

0

Earlier this week we showed you a picture of the new Tonner Jasper and Alice dolls. Now MTV has a small interview with Robert Tonner himself, who describes the process of getting permissions from both Summit and the actors. Check out the video below:

The company got “likeness rights” for the doll, which means that Jasper looks exactly like Jackson Rathbone. (Honestly, it’s kind of freaky!) And according to Mr. Tonner, while some actors aren’t so pleased about being reproduced in doll form, both Jackson and Ashley Greene have been ultra-cool and on-board with being miniaturized for the benefit of Twi-hards everywhere.

It’s cool to hear from the actual guy who makes them! I’m glad Ashley and Jackson were into the dolls and didn’t mind that they were made.

What do you reckon of the interview with Robert Tonner?
