Instead of attempting to fit into the mold of the traditional vampire genre, the Twilight series continues to make new fans, attracting a wider audience with its romance and fang-less action.
Historically, sequels and multi-chapter series tend to be let-downs. When a blockbuster tale captures the public’s attention, we typically anticipate the follow-ups that inevitably disappoint. Contrary to this expected decline in enthusiasm, I found each stage of the Twilight Saga to be substantially more entertaining that its predecessor.
While New Moon took on emotional plot twists that stunned Twilight fans, it opened the door for broader and more compelling tale lines. Skeptical about Eclipse’s ability to maintain the intensity, I entered the third stage of the Twilight Saga prepared to be under whelmed. With mild amusement, I found my doubts fading quickly as I sank my teeth into Meyer’s third Twilight installment.
As in Twilight and New Moon, nearby Seattle is still wracked by mysterious killings and clumsy Bella Swan is still unsettled by her like for vampire Edward Cullen and her friendship with werewolf Jacob Black. Bella and the Cullens eventually deduce that the murders in Seattle are being committed by Victoria and an army of newborn vampires, made to satisfy Victoria’s lust for revenge over the death of her vampire mate. The Cullen family strike and uneasy truce with the La Push werewolf pack and join forces to combat the impending threat of the newborn vampires.
Eclipse continues to underscore Bella’s anguish, acknowledging that her heart is torn between her right like, Edward and her unrequited like for Jacob. Wracked with trepidation, she realizes how her desire to become a vampire will impact the people she likes most. As fans around the planet gear up to watch Twilight Eclipse this summer, the third movie in the Twilight Saga, the internet has become a buzz with all kinds of Twilight trivia, Twilight parodies, and Twilight rumors. It appears like every single other day another supermarket tabloid releases a questionable “interview” with one of the stars of Twilight. Is Robert Pattinson dating Kristen Stewart? Is Taylor Lautner really dead? Is Dakota Fanning a vampire in real life? Is Robert Pattinson straight? The list goes on and on.
If you are not a hardcore Twilight fan you probably don’t care very much about all this fanfare, but if you plot on going to watch Twilight Eclipse with some of your friends in theatres, there are some basic elements of the tale that make sure you familiarize yourself with just before heading out to watch the Twilight Eclipse movie so you are not lost when the action starts.
The Twilight Saga, written by author Stephanie Meyer and directed by David Slade, centers around the life of Isabella Swan, a youthful and socially awkward girl played by Kristen Stewart that moves from Phoenix to live with her father in Washington state. Bella, as she is affectionately regarded by her friends, is a silent girl with low self esteem who tends to retain to herself at first. During her first days in her new college she encounters a youthful boy named Edward Cullen, played by Robert Pattinson, who she finds fascinating. At first, Edward shuns and avoids her, making Bella really feel even a lot more self conscious about herself, but he eventually warms up to her and they become friends. Edward is adored by all the other girls in university and Bella cannot know why he bothers to commit so a fantastic deal time around her.
More than the course of the next handful of days she notices quite curious and unexplainable events surrounding her friendship with Edward Cullen. Bella is devastated by Edward’s absence and falls into a deep depression shortly after him and his family leave town. She stops seeing her friends and speaks to nearly nobody other than her personal father. In her sadness, she starts to hallucinate and sees ghostly images of Edward wherever she goes.
She eventually finds solace in an past childhood friend, Jacob Black, played by Taylor Lautner. Jacob is a Native American boy who Bella knew in her youth because their fathers are older friends. As she spends far more and additional time with Jacob she momentarily starts to forget Edward and finds herself having feelings for Jacob, but he is younger than her by a number of years. Jacob also has strong feelings towards Bella and eventually lets her know how he feels about her. A brief while later Jacob disappears for a period of time, and when he returns to see Bella she finds out that he too has a secret that he has been keeping from her. Jacob Black is a werewolf. Just around this time Ashley Cullen, played by Ashley Greene, arrives in town and tells Bella that her brother Edward has gone to see a group of ruthless vampires recognized as the Volturi in buy to commit suicide because he is under the impression that Bella was dead. Although Jacob and Edward are sworn enemies, the two agree to a truce for the sake of protecting Bella, as long as the Cullens by no means bite a human.
Bella really significantly wants to become a vampire so that she can be with Edward without growing older and dying. Although extremely a fantastic deal opposed to the thought of turning Bella into a vampire, Edward tells her that if she will marry him, Edward will change her himself after a quick while.
