Miley Cyrus has worked really hard to cleanse herself from the Disney image.

It hasn’t been simple, either. People are pretty bone idle when it comes to changing their impressions of people.

But inch by inch, Miley is forging her own path as a young woman who likes tattoos, John Lennon, and grunge.

Someone she especially admires is Joan Jett. She even used her I Like Rock And Roll to audition for her double-edged career-maker Hannah Montanna.

The edgy rocker has paved the way for rockin’ females who just don’t care.

And recently, Miley was lucky enough to sit down and talk to one of her idols. The two shared their experiences and thoughts on one another.

People see me as this perfect Disney star, and the moment I place out a record that says ‘I’m not 11 years ancient anymore,’ people look down on me. That’s why I have always looked up [to] you. When you came out people were shocked that there was a chick that wanted to rock as hard as the guys.

Joan

I was thinking to myself how hard it must be to lead your life as a teenager with the paparazzi and the amount of press you’re surrounded by. I thought to myself, ‘Wow that was kind of a blessing that we didn’t have that stuff when I was growing up in The Runaways.

Miley

I like that you never apologized for who you were. It’s something I had to learn. I’m sick of feeling as if I owe someone an apology for being who I am.

Well, how long do U reckon before people completely forget about Miley’s mouse ears?
