Calvin Klein Reveals Rooney Mara as the Face of Their New Fragrance at Cannes
0Today, Calvin Klein officially unveiled Rooney Mara as the face of their newest fragrance, Downtown – but the brand got an early start celebrating the news last night. Despite the rain, stars including Rooney, Carey Mulligan, Nicole Kidman, and Skyfall‘s Naomie Harris stopped by Calvin Klein’s beachside bash at the Cannes Film Festival yesterday evening.
Rooney marked the new partnership alongside Francisco Costa, the creative director of Calvin Klein Collection, at the party, which was also hosted by Belvedere and IWC. Inside the dimly lit and intimate soiree, she chatted with producer Harvey Weinstein, while Carey Mulligan mingled by the DJ booth before making an early departure. Nicole Kidman also made time in her Cannes schedule to attend. All three actresses are busy working this week. Carey’s The Fantastic Gatsby premiered on opening night, Rooney’s latest film, Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, will also debut later this week, and Nicole is serving as a member of the film festival’s official jury.
Rooney Mara On Dragon Tattoo Sequel: ‘WHO KNOWS??’
0Noooooo!
We’ve known for a while now that David Fincher‘s sequel to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo keeps getting pushed back to the point of being in jeopardy, so we were HOPING Rooney Mara could fill us in with a small bit about what’s going on there.
Turns out, there isn’t even a script yet!
During an interview about her next flick, Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, she was questioned point blank on a red carpet about it — she responded with:
“I don’t know! I wish that I knew, but I don’t. I mean I would be very pleased to go and do it, but I haven’t heard anything yet!”
Well, that’s one huge bummmmmmmer!
But at least she’s honest about the status! Plus, it’s just nice to know that she supports it, and that we’re not the only ones who want to see The Girl Who Played With Fire!
Get on it, Fincher! LOLz!

Jessica Biel and Rooney Mara Team Up at Sundance
0Jessica Biel was casually chic at the premiere of her new movie, Emanuel and the Truth About Fishes, at the Sundance Film Festival on Friday night. Jessica was joined by her costars Kaya Scodelario and Alfred Molina on the red carpet, as well as Rooney Mara, who is a producer on the project. The film follows Kaya’s character, Emanuel, who becomes obsessed with a neighbor who bears a striking resemblance to her dead mother. Jessica was without husband Justin Timberlake, who has been making his own headlines this past week. Justin released a new song – his first in six years – called “Suit and Tie” and announced that he would be releasing a new album, The 20/20 Experience, later this year.
We’re on the scene at the Sundance Film Festival, so keep checking back for all the excitement and follow POPSUGAR on Twitter and Instagram for more!
Rooney Mara: Walking The Red Carpet Is A Nightmare!
0Despite being one of the hottest stars in the film game, it seems Rooney Mara is NOT a fan of the attention celebrities get.
It sounds like she has to ENDURE all of the ADORE.
But unlike many celebrities who are simply annoyed by the media spotlight, Rooney reveals the serious issues she faces when the spotlight gets a small bit too bright.
She said:
“(Walking the red carpet is) a nightmare! It’s a panic attack waiting to happen. I don’t even like people to sing Pleased Birthday to me. When we wrap a film and everyone claps and cheers, I turn red. And then I have to walk out onto the middle of this carpet and there are all these photographers, and they’re all screaming at you. And usually there’s a party at the other end of it, so it’s not even like I have solace at the end of the carpet! It’s like then I have to walk into my other nightmare!”
Parties and pleased birthday songs are the stuff of your nightmares?
But they’re so much fun!
Despite dissatisfaction with the life of the rich and well-known – the lady always looks her best when it comes down to it.
So at least she enjoys some parts of her fairy tale life, right?
Well, we’ll let her clarify:
“It’s kind of an annoying part of the job – because I’m not a model, and I don’t want to be. I didn’t try to be a style icon. I’m just not that interested in that world. But it does matter, and either I can fight that or I just have to accept that it is a part of my job, and I may as well wear things that I like and that represent me.”
Lots of peeps have to do things they don’t like to do in life, so at least what she’s forced to do doesn’t sound TOO terrible.
Hopefully as her stardom grows and grows, she’ll become more accustomed to the life she leads and will be able to conquer her phobias once and for all!

Ryan Gosling & Rooney Mara Get Intimate on the Lone Star State Set
0Lending their talent to an intriguing new production, Ryan Gosling and Rooney Mara paired up for filming in Austin, Texas earlier this week (September 24).
The ” Half Nelson” heartthrob and his “Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” actress co-star got up close and personal while in the midst of an intimate scene for director Terrence Malick’s yet-to-be-titled project.
The drama – which thus far is only confirmed for a July 4, 2013 Russian release date – tells the tale of “two intersecting like triangles with obsession and betrayal set against the music scene in Austin, Texas.”
Boasting quite the extraordinary cast, the plotted 2013 release also stars Natalie Portman, Cate Blanchett, Christian Bale and Wes Bentley.
Ryan Gosling & Rooney Mara Look Dazed Shooting Untitled Terrence Malick Flick
0Perhaps they feel unfocused starring in a movie with not title? Maybe? No? We tried!
Ryan Gosling is living the actor’s dream right now!
Not only is he getting all sorts of acclaim for pretty much every performance he gives, but he’s starring in the next Terrence Malick movie!
As Rachel Weisz, Barry Pepper, Amanda Peet and Michael Sheen recently learned but, that doesn’t mean he’ll necessarily make the final cut.
Considering we’re pretty sure the movie revolves around him and Rooney Mara, we’re feeling excellent vibes on his behalf.
The talented actors were shooting the flick in Austin, Texas over the weekend. After standing on a bridge overlooking a canal for a scene, Gosling and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo hopped in a vintage truck to cruise around town.
Delight in the rest of your time in Austin, guys! Make sure to check out the local music scene when you have a night or two off.

Nina Dobrev and Max Mara Toast Face of the Future Chloe Moretz
0Nina Dobrev joined stars like The Hunger Games‘ Amandla Stenberg last night in LA to toast Chloe Moretz. Chloe was honored as the 2012 Women in Film Face of the Future at a cocktail party hosted by Max Mara. Jennifer Morrison, Olivia Munn, and Rachael Leigh Cook also made the scene. Chloe’s roles in movies like Kick-Ass and Hugo have made her one of Hollywood’s leading young actresses, and last night’s party celebrated her status as an up-and-coming star.
Chloe returned to the States for the soiree following a recent trip to South Korea, while Nina was back in LA after a romantic getaway with her boyfriend and The Vampire Diaries costar Ian Somerhalder. The duo took off to Paris, a favorite destination of theirs, shortly after the season finale of their CW series. The last time Ian and Nina vacationed in France in 2011, they even brought along their mothers.

0Looks like cupid’s struck yet another Hollywood couple!
It seems that Justin Long and Rooney’s older sis and American Horror Tale actress Kate Mara are certainly more than just friends…!
Most recently, the two were seen in NYC on Saturday, arm in arm at Justin’s birthday party and a source has confirmed that they are very much together!
How cute!
Justin dated the newly married Drew Barrymore a few years back, and she really waltzed down the aisle that same night of Long’s party!
The past is the past though and Kate and Justin seem like they make such an adorbz couple!!
We wish them the best…and hope Kate isn’t anything like her cray cray obsessive-possessive AHS character! LOLz!

Matilda Mara Wilson Wants You Off Her Back!
0Remember Matilda?
And the cute small girl with bangs from Miracle on 34th Street who really wanted us to believe in Santa?
Of course you do.
That’s Mara Wilson, child star.
Well she’s not a kid anymore.
Our small girl is all grown up and she’s tired of being mocked two-bit critics.
When That Guy With The Glasses takes it upon himself to lambast one of Mara’s ancient flicks — a late ‘90s crap-fest called A Simple Wish, co-starring Kathleen Turner and Martin Small — she decides to fight back.
Mara makes a surprise appearance at the end of That Guy’s video review and defends her childhood career choices!
You don’t have to sell us, Mara. Mz. Doubtfire was HIGHlarious!!
Apparently she quit acting over a decade ago because she was miserable; you can read all about that choice on her blog.
But don’t give her crap!!
She’s kind of scares us when she’s mad…

Rooney Mara Receives SBIFF Virtuosos Award
0Receiving yet another accolade thanks to her performance in “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” Rooney Mara looked glamorous in green as she arrived on the red carpet at the Arlington Theatre in Santa Barbara, California on Friday night (February 3).
The 26-year-ancient actress was on-hand to be presented as one of this year’s recipients of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival’s Virtuosos Award – with the tribute having been made to “recognize a select group of actors who have distinguished themselves through performances in film.”
With other 2012 Virtuosos Award honorees including Shailene Woodley, Patton Oswalt, Andy Serkis, Demián Bichir and Melissa McCarthy, Festival Director Roger Durling said of the selections, “I’m ecstatic about this strong line-up of Virtuosos. They all gave us indelible performances.”
The SBIFF evening comes as Miss Mara was recently interviewed by Vanity Honest for their March 2012 Hollywood Issue (watch below) – in which she spoke about how her taste in film isn’t usually satisfied by the mainstream entertainment industry.
“Most of the actors I admire the most don’t get that much press, but on purpose. I reckon usually throughout the year, some of the best performances are sort of the ones that are under the radar,” Rooney opined. “I usually reckon the most fascinating work is the work that is not viewed by the masses.”

Rooney Mara Says Her Law & Order Comments Were Taken ‘Out Of Context!’
0We’re not 100% sure how these quotes could have been taken out of context…but we’re listening!
Last week, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’s Rooney Mara opened up about her first role, which was a guest spot on Law & Order, and she had less-than-positive things to say about it.
She had reportedly called the role “so dreadful” and “so stupid” because her character beat up “stout people” and Rooney felt that people wouldn’t really beat someone up because they’re stout…which of course is bullshiz. Unfortunately that kind of thing DOES happen. Too much.
Now, Rooney has opened up about her L & O comments, and she’s claiming that she was quoted of context:
And more from Rooney:
Okay, okay. We’ll let this one go, but we REALLY hope we don’t hear any more ungrateful comments from U, Rooney! UR very talented, but that’s not an excuse to get all divarrific about it!
Just sayin’!
