After grabbing the attention of millions with Twilight, Stephenie Meyer responded with the sequel, New Moon. Reactions varied, but most prevalent among them were the complaints about not enough Edward. Some devoted fans had to literally force themselves to end Book Two in The Twilight Saga.
Of course, they were glad they did.
Twilight fed us a delightful romantic tale about Bella and Edward; clumsy teenage misfit falling in like with the mysterious and irresistible vampire. New Moon broadens the stage to include the emotional triangle with Jacob Black as the third pivot point. Add to this the inclusion of werewolves in what was assumed to be merely a vampire tale and now you had some tasty fodder for a tale that could branch out in numerous directions.
Since reading fiction is about letting your imagination run wild, New Moon makes that possible with a full spectrum of characters and possibilities. Taking the romantic and somewhat predictable frustration from Twilight and opening a Pandora’s box of potential plot twists; New Moon was really the perfect step for securing my allegiance to The Twilight Saga and Stephenie Meyer. This episode transformed my sufficiently satisfied reaction to Twilight into an awe-struck reaction of anticipatory anxiety as I cracked the cover on Book Three.
Fans who howled about the lack of Edward in New Moon were obviously entranced by the initial romantic pairing and assumed Edward Cullen was the end-game for the Twilight tale. In truth, such a restrictive plot line would have greatly limited the author’s ability to expand her vision into a right saga with multiple books. Either they stayed together or they didn’t. Either Bella became a vampire or she didn’t. Then what?
After hooking the Twilight audience with Edward Cullen’s appeal, removing him from the drama, even temporarily, was a tale-telling stroke of genius on Meyer’s part. Teasing readers with the possibility that Bella would never reclaim her right like was the mid-tale cliffhanger that kept us all turning the pages.
It helps to be reminded that Twilight is not about Edward Cullen. Twilight is about Bella Swan dealing with deadly encounters and life altering decisions that are beyond her years.
Expanding the mythical aspects of The Twilight Saga with werewolves and the venues with a trip to Italy allowed our imaginations to stretch beyond the limited confines of a vampire family in Forks. Bella’s relationship with Jacob and the wolf pack multiplied the “what if” factors exponentially. Volturi danger combined with the historical revelations about vampire families simply strengthened the backdrop for a tale that now stretched far beyond a juvenile crush on the ultimate boyfriend.
To those who got knee-deep into the Jacob Black segment of New Moon and gave up – it’s your loss. You stopped small of a creative stepping stone into the real world of the Twilight vampires and Bella’s inevitable plight to live a normal life – or live forever with Edward.

On Isabella “Bella” Swan’s 18th birthday, Edward Cullen, the vampire she likes, and his family throw her a birthday party. While unwrapping a gift, she gets a paper cut, which causes Edward’s adoptive brother, Jasper, to be overwhelmed by her blood’s scent and attempt to kill Bella. To protect her, Edward decides to end their relationship, and the Cullens go away from Forks. This leaves Bella severely depressed.
In the months that follow, Bella learns that thrill-seeking activities, such as motorcycle riding, allow her to “hear” Edward’s voice in her head. She also seeks comfort in her deepening friendship with Jacob Black, a cheerful companion who eases her pain over losing Edward. Bella discovers that Jacob is a werewolf. He and his fellow werewolves protect Bella from the vampires Laurent and Victoria, the latter of whom seeks revenge for her dead mate, James, whom the Cullens killed in Twilight. Meanwhile, a series of miscommunications leads Edward to believe that Bella has killed herself. Alice and Bella rush to Italy to save Edward, arriving just in time to stop him. Before leaving Italy, the Volturi tell Edward that Bella, a human who knows that vampires exist, must either be killed or transformed into a vampire. When they return to Forks, Edward tells Bella that he has always loved her and only left Forks to protect her. She forgives him, and the book ends with the Cullens voting in favor of Bella being transformed into a vampire after her graduation, to Edward’s dismay.

Stephenie Meyer’s vampire romance escalates with action and ramps up the excitement in Eclipse, the third entry in the Twilight Saga. Instead of attempting to fit into the mold of the traditional vampire genre, the Twilight series continues to make new fans, attracting a wider audience with its romance and fang-less action.
Historically, sequels and multi-chapter series tend to be let-downs. When a blockbuster tale captures the public’s attention, we typically anticipate the follow-ups that inevitably disappoint. Contrary to this expected decline in enthusiasm, I found each stage of the Twilight Saga to be substantially more entertaining that its predecessor.
While New Moon took on emotional plot twists that stunned Twilight fans, it opened the door for broader and more compelling tale lines. Skeptical about Eclipse’s ability to maintain the intensity, I entered the third stage of the Twilight Saga prepared to be under whelmed. With mild amusement, I found my doubts fading quickly as I sank my teeth into Meyer’s third Twilight installment.
As in Twilight and New Moon, nearby Seattle is still wracked by mysterious killings and clumsy Bella Swan is still unsettled by her like for vampire Edward Cullen and her friendship with werewolf Jacob Black. Bella and the Cullens eventually deduce that the murders in Seattle are being committed by Victoria and an army of newborn vampires, made to satisfy Victoria’s lust for revenge over the death of her vampire mate. The Cullen family strike and uneasy truce with the La Push werewolf pack and join forces to combat the impending threat of the newborn vampires.
Eclipse continues to underscore Bella’s anguish, acknowledging that her heart is torn between her right like, Edward and her unrequited like for Jacob. Wracked with trepidation, she realizes how her desire to become a vampire will impact the people she likes most. Throughout Eclipse, we see Bella’s struggle to justify the ramifications of her actions before she reaches the final choice about a vampire eternity.
Included in the fun of the Eclipse novel are more historical details about the vampires themselves. Revealing secrets about Jasper’s past and startling events that threatened to expose the vampire race, including bloody vampire wars. Meyer serves up tasty tidbits for those who like an intriguing back tale.
With the threat of newborn vampires approaching, Bella won’t allow herself to be left behind during the action. The thought of her right like or best friend being injured is more than she can bear. Bella and Edward use Bella’s scent to lure the newborn vampires, which will lead them to into a trap. In the ultimate Twilight battle, Victoria’s newborn vampires must face the Cullen coven and their werewolf allies.
Another respectful nod to Stephenie Meyer for penning a tale that draws you in and holds you in its grip. Whether you cheer for werewolves or vampires – whether you long for Bella to choose Jake or Edward – whether you’re a fan of horror tales or romance novels – Twilight Eclipse will capture your imagination. And ultimately, isn’t that the epitome of what any excellent storyteller can hope for?
An agonizing like triangle. A tense alliance between vampires and werewolves. Vengeance-driven danger from Victoria’s vampires and the ever-present threat of the Volturi overshadowing every choice. Twilight Eclipse has plenty of bite to keep you turning the pages.
Robust and full of drama, Eclipse does just that; it eclipses previous Twilight chapters with heightened action and the looming choice Bella must face about her future with Edward. It’s a gripping tale of action, romance and suspense that will leave you nervous to crack the cover of the final Twilight installment.

Stephenie Meyer (born December 24, 1973) is the well-known American author of the Twilight book series. The Twilight series consists of four novels – New Moon is the second Twilight book.
Initially when Stephenie Meyer completed Twilight, she started writing a sequel titled Forever Dawn. Meyer was said to be aiming at a more adult audience with her second Twilight book, which was to tell the tale of the main protagonist Bella Swan after she had left high school. But once it was confirmed Twilight would be published and marketed as a novel for young-adults, she chose to start a new sequel also aimed at younger adults – New Moon.
The 608 page hardcover of New Moon was subsequently published in September 2006 by publisher Small, Brown Books. It immediately became a bestseller.
**SPOILER** The tale of New Moon follows Bella immediately following events of Twilight. Edward Cullen and his family choose to leave forks, primarily because he believes his presence will bring danger to Bella. Bella develops a close friendhip with Jacob Black as she struggles with Edward’s departure. But, despite Edward’s best intentions Bella is not safe as Victoria, a vampire, comes for her to avenge the death of James (killed at the end of Twilight). She discovers Jacob is a werewolf who, together with his fellow werewolves, fights to protect her. But Edward mistakenly learns she is dead and, in his own grief, heads to Volterra, Italy, where he plans to commit suicide. But, Bella learns of this and, aided by Edward’s sister Alice, travels there to stop him. In Volterra they come face to face with a powerful coven of vampires, the Volturi, who only allow them to return to Forks alive on one condition: Bella must (in the future) be turned into a vampire.
When Stephenie Meyer was writing New Moon, the Twilight movie was in development at Paramount Pictures. The tale goes that despite many years of trying, Paramounts MTV Film’s division were struggling to adapt the novel to the huge screen. Early screenplays were unfaithful to the original Twilight book before, in what is considered one of the greatest coup’s in Hollywood history, Summit Entertainment bought the rights. The screenplay that would eventually become the first Twilight movie, and that remained largely faithful to Stephenie Meyer’s novel, was written (after New Moon was released) by Emmy nominee Melissa Rosenberg.
The Twilight movie was a huge success, pulling in 4M worldwide – more than ten times it’s original M budget. It became the largest box office film based on Vampires in history and is currently in the top 118 box office earners of all time.
Filming on the sequel, based on the New Moon book but titled The Twilight Saga: New Moon, started in February 2009, this time with an increased estimated budget of around M. The Twilight Saga: New Moon, again faithfully adapted from the New Moon book by Melissa Rosenberg, was released in theaters on November 20, 2009.
Upon its release, the New Moon movie immediately broke records and more than doubled the first day box office haul of Twilight. First, it eclipsed The Dark Knight to break the record for the largest midnight opening ever (.27M). It then passed The Dark Knight again to claim the record for largest opening day (.7M). by the end of its first weekend it was in the record books as the third largest weekend opener of all time (0.7M). Worldwide New Moon became the seventh largest opener ever with 8.8M.

There are lessons and vital trade-offs that take place during an Eclipse. The most vital object to have is an accurate birth chart. Now that you know what to expect from the sign and elements, let’s look at the house polarity of the Eclipse as that is also an brilliant way to know what dynamic is taking place.
If the Eclipse takes place in the First or Seventh House, it speaks to the need for an individual identity (1st house) and the polarity suggests that to gain this identity you must also be willing to give recognition (7th house) to others. The exchange being, “ I will accept you for who you are if you will accept me in the same way.”
If the Eclipse takes place in the Second or Eighth House, it speaks to the need someone has for tangible possessions (2nd house) and the desire to share in the possessions of others (8th house). The exchange being, “ I will give you something I can do for you if you will give me something in return just as valuable to you.”

If the Eclipse takes place in the Fifth or Eleventh House, it speak to the need to exchange intangible commodities, such as, like like, vacations, children (5th house), and our desire for romance and attainment of our goals (11th house). The exchange is, “Like me and I will like you.”
If the Eclipse takes place in the Sixth or Twelfth House, it speaks of service to others (6th house) and what we can expect in return (12th house). The exchange declares, “Care for me and I will care for you.”
