Like most horror fans, I’m getting tired of seeing loveable sweet vampires that small girls fall in like with. Even if I do find the Twilight movies to be entertaining, I still prefer my vamps to be badass human eaters. So I chose to go see Daybreakers. I’ve been looking forwards to seeing the movie for a while and after viewing the film I have some mixed feeling about Daybreakers. Some parts were really cool and others just seemed silly.

As soon as Daybreakers started, it instantly caught my attention. I could tell straight away that it was very original and different than most other vampire movies; and I was right. I have to say that Daybreakers is one of the most original horror films of the last few years, and in a time filled with sequels and remakes, it’s nice to see a original movie. The main reason I wanted to see Daybreakers is because I wanted to see some awesome vampire action, and I did get to see some pretty cool fight scenes. Especially towards the end of the movie when we get to see a all out vampire feeding frenzy. Daybreakers isn’t loaded with gore, but when it does show gore it makes it count. We see limbs torn off, heads pulled off and lots of blood squirting. Some of the gore effects were CGI, and some weren’t. Most of the acting was also pretty excellent. Willem Dafoe did a excellent job and I thoughtEthan Hawke did the best he could do with a weak script. The cinematography wasn’t half terrible either. Plus the movie has a really badass “Smokey and the Bandit” style Trans am/Firebird in it. And who in the hell doesn’t like a excellent ancient fashioned muscle car?

New Moon is the next edition in the Twilight series sees a whole new side of Jacob who we were introduced to in Twilight. Of course everything is not normal in the hometown of Forks. Vampires are real, and now so are Werewolves.

Jacob Black, who is Billy’s son didn’t know that the tales about their ancestors are really right. You may have seen the New Moon trailer, and can see Jacob transforming into a werewolf because its in his blood line.

Since there was a change in the directors from Twilight to New Moon, I’m assuming this movie would be much better laid out than the first. I loved Twilight, don’t get me incorrect, but the Twilight didn’t have that fantastic acting in it. I preferred the book way over the movie.

You can see immediately why this movie was an international hit, it is a romantic tale many teenagers will identify with even though it has some horror themes as the inevitable subject deals with vampires, but it is in fact a like tale.

It stars Kristen Stewart (unrecognisable from The Cake Eaters), as Bella Swan nervous to get away from her erratic hovering mother and new boyfriend as they go on tour, while she moves to a new school as she stays with her father the local sheriff Charlie Swan played by Billy Burke(Untraceable, 24, Party of Five).

We immediately get the distant relationship Bella has with her father, as Bella voice-overs “The fantastic thing about Charlie is he doesn’t hover” as he shows her room. In her new school she is introduced to as the new plaything, since she is joining half way through term, and quickly makes friends with amongst others the lovely Jessica Stanley played by Anna Kendrick(her smile is enough to brighten up any room). As Bella settles in her new surroundings she gets reacquainted with some friends she knew when she was younger and stayed with her father, one being the charming Billy Black played by Gil Birmingham(Body and Soul), there is a particular amusing scene where Bella’s father buys an ancient vehicle from him for her, at first Bella looks at it as a worthless piece of junk, but then realises the potential it could have, and can’t wait to test drive it, while Billy Black mentions to Charlie “I’m down with the kids”.
