Box Office: “Taken 2″ Steals Top Spot from “Hotel Transylvania”
0Spearheading another solid weekend at movie theaters across the States, “Taken 2″ is comfortable situated atop the box office to start the weekend of October 5-7, 2012.
The Olivier Megaton directed crime drama starring Liam Neeson as a retired CIA operative scored a $ 17.5 million opening day while estimated to churn out a respectable weekend total of $ 46.3 million.
Getting bumped down a peg is last weekend’s top dog, “Hotel Transylvania,” as Sony Pictures Animation’s family comedy starring Adam Sandler and Selena Gomez sits in the runner-up slot with a $ 6.2 million Friday putting it in line for a sophomore weekend of $ 24.8 million.
Filling out the top five at the box office in earmarked earnings are the Anna Kendrick and Brittany Snow starring musical production “Pitch Perfect” ($ 12.8 million) in third and Tim Burton and Disney’s animated newcomer “Frankenweenie” ($ 12.5 million) in fourth while the Joseph Gordon-Levitt/Emily Blunt helmed sci-fi thriller “Looper” ($ 11.2 million) rounds out the projected top five finishers this weekend.

Harper Beckham Steals the Show at Her Big Brother’s Soccer Game

David Beckham held onto his adorable daughter Harper for an afternoon watching his boys play soccer in Santa Monica on Saturday. Victoria and David’s oldest son Brooklyn entertained his baby sister while Romeo played and Cruz looked on decked out in his own jersey. Victoria didn’t tweet about Harper’s fashion for the day, but the small one looked precious in her pointed hat. David is back at home in California with his family after a whirlwind trip through Asia and Australia last week. While abroad, he once again earned his place in our hottest shirtless guys of 2011 poll by stripping down on the field in Indonesia and Down Under. It’s still up in the air whether the Beckham family will be relocating for David to join another team, but while they’re still in LA we like their weekly soccer adventures as the boys take on dad’s craft.
